SPAN worked closely with senior realtor.com technical leaders to identify the technical strategy, build a roadmap and decouple the initial application areas.

The Challenge

To identify and implement a strategy to modernize FocusFire -  Realtor.com’s lead tracking and referral platform - to improve speed-to-market for new features and to accelerate developer onboarding.  

What we Did

  • Identified the high-level technical and architecture strategy for modernizing the FocusFire application
  • Developed a multi-tracked, multi-phase roadmap for executing the strategy.
  • Executed the initial phases of the modernization project, working closely with multiple realtor.com teams to decouple a number of application areas from the monolith. 

The Result

Provided realtor.com with a prioritized roadmap, identifying the key areas to be decoupled. Developed the technical strategy and blueprint to be used for decoupling the monolith, and for identifying and designing the relevant microservices and APIs. Completed decoupling of the initial areas, at the same time onboarding the realtor.com team on to the process to be used. Created supporting documentation for the blueprint and for use in upcoming areas.
