Chris Lyon

Founder and CEO
Chris founded SPAN to build a different kind of consulting firm—one where senior expertise meets deep collaboration. He shapes the company’s strategic direction and culture while building a leadership team capable of delivering world-class technical solutions with a refreshingly human approach.

He’s owned or run several businesses across different industries including tech. Those experiences required being multi-disciplinary—excelling at sales, operations, product development, and marketing. That breadth prepared him to lead a premium consulting firm where versatility and integration across functions are essential.

Chris is currently focused on navigating accelerating market change while keeping talented people aligned—balancing adaptation with the cohesion that makes SPAN successful.

John Harris

Founder and CTO
John built his technical leadership chops across custom solutions, product development, and technical consulting in industries as diverse as high tech,  media and entertainment,  mineral exploration, hospital operations, clinical diagnostics, financial services, and many others. He has worked in startups and global industry-leading corporations, and brings the same pragmatic, benefits-driven approach to our clients and SPAN's technical vision.

When he’s not engaging clients and defining technical strategies, he alternates between perfecting his blues bends and mastering the subtleties of wet-on-wet watercolor technique.

Derrick Roth

CFO
Derrick leads the finance team at SPAN doing financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and treasury management. His work provides a financial and data-driven framework to support strategic and tactical decision-making.

His investment banking career at Morgan Stanley, William Blair, and GCA Savvian—advising on over $70B in transactions—provided deep analytical skills and technology sector expertise. Subsequent CFO work with growth-stage technology companies gave him hands-on experience with the financial planning and strategic finance challenges specific to consulting and software development businesses.

Derrick is exploring how to leverage AI and automation tools to enhance financial forecasting, predictive analytics, and strategic decision-making—studying emerging applications that can improve data insights, automate reporting workflows, and support more sophisticated financial modeling.

Pete Broding

COO
Pete's leadership foundation was built as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he learned that mission success relies on team cohesion and decisiveness. He carried those lessons into senior leadership roles across global high-tech and professional services organizations.

At SPAN he bridges strategic vision and business reality, overseeing the global operating framework to ensure operational excellence. He ensures internal processes are as innovative and robust as the solutions SPAN builds for clients.

Pete is focused on AI’s tangible impact on business results, moving beyond the hype. He’s studying how to pragmatically integrate AI into workflows—automating routine tasks and enhancing decision-making to improve efficiency and redefine the value SPAN delivers to clients.

Travis Pawley

VP of Engineering
Travis leads SPAN's 70+ person engineering organization across product and services delivery with a focus on ensuring engineering excellence. He's accountable for SLA compliance, delivery quality, and AI transformation initiatives while scaling SPAN's engineering culture through mentoring and pragmatic innovation.

Earlier roles at MWEB and Trinity Telecomms taught him to bridge development and operations while scaling technical teams.

Travis is currently exploring agentic AI—how autonomous AI systems can be orchestrated to solve complex, multi-step problems with minimal human intervention. Beyond technical work, he's focused on becoming a better leader by learning to scale not just systems, but people and culture.

Ingrid Vorster

Managing Director
Ingrid leads the SPAN Digital Cape Town office, overseeing operations for 30+ engineers and support staff. She manages people strategy, culture, compliance, and finance while collaborating with SPAN global leadership to strengthen connections across the Cape Town, San Francisco, and Guadalajara teams.

With over 20 years experience across technology, financial services, automotive, and healthcare, Ingrid brings strategic vision and operational expertise to scaling teams while maintaining quality. She’s currently deepening her understanding of AI’s practical applications in business. When she’s not working, she loves to explore and learn about sea life as she scuba dives off the South African coast.

Steve Rowbury

VP of Account Management
Steve has led technology teams and delivered large-scale initiatives for 25+ years across insurance, financial services, and digital media. His background spans software development, project delivery, sales, and account management.

Today, he manages client relationships and service delivery at SPAN, ensuring projects succeed and partnerships deliver long-term value for our clients.

Outside work, Steve can usually be found in the mountains trail running or skiing.

Jennie Luke

VP of Program Management
Co-founding multiple companies taught Jennie to build from the ground up—creating processes, assembling teams, and guiding organizations from inception to profitability. That founder's mindset, honed over 30+ years, shapes how she approaches operations at SPAN.

She now oversees project delivery across the Cape Town, San Francisco, and Guadalajara SPAN offices. She ensures projects stay within scope, budget, and timeline while building high-performing teams and serving as a strategic partner to leadership.

Outside of work, Jennie is interviewing 1,000 women in business to learn about the obstacles they face and how they've overcome them. The pursuit, like her career, is about creating space for people to do their best work and reach their full potential.
